How it works

1. 01The hook goes in the block

   The slot takes the hook bend. The spring presses down with about two newtons — enough to hold, light enough to release without tools.

2. 02Line runs through the brake

   A felt washer between two printed flanges. The screw tightens until the line pays out without tangling.

3. 03The knot is tied with both hands

   That is the whole point. Everything else on the jig exists only to free up the third hand you do not have.
