Ice-fishing tip-up that folds flat
A tip-up with printed hinges that folds flat in the pack, and a flag mechanism with no metal spring.
The problem
Tip-ups take up space and are fragile. The metal spring rusts and freezes, so the flag is either always up or never.
The fix
The trigger is built as a printed TPU pivot that keeps its spring down to minus twenty. The legs fold in along the body, making the whole thing as flat as a board.
This is the winter project. The idea came in the mountains rather than at sea — but it is the same problem: cold and moving parts.
